Weekend Mill Hill kits you can finish in two evenings
Not every project has to live in the WIP pile. These Mill Hill kits are small, complete, and in stock — most of them fit into two evenings. A blank weekend is a gift. A 20-inch sampler is not how you spend it. Mill Hill’s small, beaded kits are built for that gap: a complete pack (beads, 14-count perforated paper or PVC, floss, needle, chart), a finish measured in inches, and a magnet or charm so the piece can leave the hoop and go on the fridge, a gift bag, or a tiny frame. No extra fabric run. No 40-page chart. Below are eight kits in stock at XStitchTale right now. Sizes and prices are from the product pages. “Two evenings” assumes a comfortable pace — not a race, not your first-ever project. If you are new to beads, start with an egg.
What “two evenings” actually means
| Kit family | Typical finished size | Honest time |
|---|---|---|
| MH18 eggs and ornaments | about 2"–3.5" | two relaxed evenings |
| MH16 painted / charm kits | about 2.5"–3" | two evenings |
| Jim Shore JS20 gnomes | about 3" × 5" | two longer evenings |
| MH14 Buttons & Beads | about 5" × 5" | a full weekend — skip those if you only have two nights |
Every kit below is in the first three rows.
1. Ladybug Egg — MH18-1615 — $9.00
Mill Hill Ladybug Egg
Finished size: about 2.5" × 3.5"
Includes: glass beads, 14-count perforated paper/PVC, DMC floss, needle, magnet, chart
Spring Bouquet series. Small enough to learn bead placement without a 5-inch field of confetti. It is the kit we point to when someone says they want a first Mill Hill.
Time: two evenings.
When it’s done: magnet it, or tuck it in a card.
2. Pumpkin Trio — MH18-2026 — $9.00
Mill Hill Pumpkin Trio
Finished size: about 2.5" × 3"
Includes: glass beads, treasure, 14-count perforated paper/PVC, DMC floss, needle, magnet, chart
Three little pumpkins, harvest color, no sprawling background. This is the September kit: you can start Friday and have a finish before the weekend grocery run.
Time: two evenings.
Pair with: Bewitching Pumpkin if you want a matched pair of fall magnets.
3. Bewitching Pumpkin — MH16-2024 — $9.00
Mill Hill Bewitching Pumpkin
Finished size: about 2.75" × 2.5"
Includes: glass beads, charm, 14-count perforated paper/PVC, DMC floss, needle, chart
From the Painted Pumpkins collection. Slightly more “Halloween party” than Pumpkin Trio, still a two-evening stitch. Good gift for someone who only decorates in October.
Time: two evenings.
4. Peppermint Candy — MH18-1732 — $9.00
Mill Hill Peppermint Candy
Finished size: about 2" × 3.5"
Includes: beads, perforated paper, floss, magnet, needle, chart
The smallest silhouette on this list. Stitch it in November and you are ahead of the ornament scramble. If you only have one evening and a movie, this is the one.
Time: one to two evenings.
5. Gnome with Heart — JS20-2511 — $10.00
Mill Hill Gnome with Heart (Jim Shore)
Finished size: about 3.21" × 4.93"
Includes: glass beads, 14-count perforated paper/PVC, DMC floss, needle, magnet, chart
Jim Shore’s 2025 Holiday Gnome series. Taller than an egg, so give it two longer evenings, not two half-hours. The “I ❤ U” sign makes it a year-round gift, not only a Valentine.
Time: two longer evenings.
If you like this shape: Patriotic Gnome JS20-2514 is also in the shop.
6. Victorian Posey pin pillow — MHBPP6 — $15.00
Mill Hill Victorian Posey Beaded Pin Pillow
Finished size: about 2" × 2"
Includes: glass beads, 28-count linen, DMC floss, needle, magnet, chart
Different from the paper kits: this one is linen, and the finish is a tiny 3D pin pillow for a sewing basket. Two evenings if you already know a pin-pillow finish; add a third if this is your first time turning a stuffed piece.
Time: two to three evenings.
Who it’s for: a stitcher who already has ornaments and wants something that lives next to the scissors.
Two more if you want a second finish in the same weekend
Stay inside the small kits. Do not add a 5" × 5" Buttons & Beads piece to a two-evening plan.
- Another egg from the same family — Ladybug Egg’s product page also points to Bunny Egg MH18-3102 at $9.00.
- Gather Together MH14-0202 ($17.00, about 5" × 5") is in stock and beautiful. It is a Saturday-and-Sunday kit, not a two-evening kit. Save it for a weekend with no plans.

What’s in the box (so you don’t overbuy)
A standard small Mill Hill kit already includes:
- Mill Hill glass beads
- 14-count perforated paper or PVC (or 28-count linen on the pin pillows)
- DMC floss
- needle
- chart and instructions
- magnet, treasure, charm, or JABC button, depending on the series
You do not need fabric. You may want:
- extra light and a bead dish
- a small frame if you are not using the magnet
- a needleminder, because you will put the needle down to pour beads

U.S. orders over $55 ship free via USPS Ground Advantage. One $9 kit will not get you there. These combinations will, using pieces already on the site:
Fall magnet set — $55+
Pumpkin Trio $9 + Bewitching Pumpkin $9 + Ladybug Egg $9 + Matte Blue 6×6 frame $18 + a $14 JABC pin from Accessories = $59
Gift box — $56
Gnome with Heart $10 + Victorian Posey $15 + Peppermint Candy $9 + Matte Blue 6×6 frame $18 + pin $14 = $66 (or drop the pin and add a second $9 ornament)
Two-finish weekend — $55
Any four $9 MH18 kits + one $18 6×6 wood frame = $54 — add a $4.50 hoop from the shop if you land a dollar short.
Frames: front opening 5.5" × 5.5", made for the 5" Buttons & Beads finishes. The tiny eggs look better as magnets; use the frame for Gather Together or another MH14 when you are ready.
How to pick one in 30 seconds
- Never beaded before: Ladybug Egg
- Want fall on the fridge this week: Pumpkin Trio
- Need a hostess gift in October: Bewitching Pumpkin
- Starting Christmas in September: Peppermint Candy
- Gifting a stitcher, not a magnet: Victorian Posey

Every stitch tells a story. These just happen to be short stories.

FAQ
Are Mill Hill kits good for beginners?
Yes, if you choose an MH18 egg or ornament. The chart is complete, the fabric is already in the pack, and the area is small. Start there before an MH14.
Do I stitch on the paper that comes in the kit?
Yes. Newer kits use perforated PVC that handles like the old paper. You can move a design to 14-count Aida or 28-count linen, but you do not have to.
Will I finish in two evenings?
On the six small kits above, yes, at a steady pace. The Jim Shore gnome needs longer sittings. A 5" × 5" Buttons & Beads kit does not belong on a two-evening list.
Do you ship outside the United States?
Not yet. U.S. orders over $55 ship free with USPS.
